{"id":2170,"date":"2017-10-04T09:31:03","date_gmt":"2017-10-04T07:31:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/electro-strasbourg.eu\/blog\/?p=2170"},"modified":"2017-10-04T09:31:03","modified_gmt":"2017-10-04T07:31:03","slug":"new-york-city-electroacoustic-improvisation-summit-call-for-works","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/electro-strasbourg.eu\/blog\/2017\/10\/new-york-city-electroacoustic-improvisation-summit-call-for-works\/","title":{"rendered":"New York City Electroacoustic Improvisation Summit &#8211; Call for works"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>(pour plus d&rsquo;info :\u00a0http:\/\/eis.nyc)<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"subheading\">Call for Works<\/h3>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.citytech.cuny.edu\/entertainment\/emerging-media-btech.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Emerging Media Technology<\/a> program in the Entertainment Technology department at CUNY&rsquo;s New York City College of Technology invites submissions for the third annual New York City Electroacoustic Improvisation Summit, a concert series featuring music by artists focused on the integration of music improvisation and real-time interactive computer systems.<\/p>\n<p>NYC EIS is made possible by faculty, staff, and students in the Emerging Media and Entertainment Technology programs at CUNY&rsquo;s New York City College of Technology.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3 id=\"--call--venue\" class=\"subheading\">Venue<\/h3>\n<p>NYC EIS 2018 will take place on Friday, February 23rd, and Saturday, February 24th, from 7:00 to 9:00 PM on both nights, at New York City College of Technology&rsquo;s <span id=\"show_venue_link_container\"><a id=\"show_venue\"><\/a>Voorhees Theater<\/span><span id=\"hide_venue_link_container\" class=\"nobr\"><\/span>.<\/p>\n<div id=\"venue_image_container\" class=\"left_indent\"><\/div>\n<p>We will provide the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Stereo sound. Our sound system includes a pair of Meyer Sound CQ-1 speakers with UPA-1P down-fills and 650-P subwoofers.<\/li>\n<li>Lighting.<\/li>\n<li>Stagehands and technical crews for sound and lighting.<\/li>\n<li>Documentation. We endeavor to capture audio and video of each performance, but cannot make any guarantees about the availability or quality of documentation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3 id=\"--call--how-to-submit\" class=\"subheading\">How to Submit<\/h3>\n<p>Email <span class=\"c\"><a href=\"mailto:eis@entertainmenttechnology.org\" rel=\"nofollow\">eis@entertainmenttechnology.org<\/a><\/span> with links to the following (no attachments please):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>An abstract summarizing your submitted or proposed work. We program improvisatory works, as opposed to precisely notated or largely predetermined music. Your work must incorporate real-time interaction with a computer system, and this interaction must contribute substantially to the structure and dynamics of the music.<\/li>\n<li>Media demonstrating your work, in performance if possible.<br \/>\n\u2014OR\u2014<br \/>\nIf you are proposing a new work, media demonstrating similar recent work that you have done, in performance if possible.<\/li>\n<li>Detailed information about your technical needs, including installation diagrams and equipment list. Indicate any personnel or equipment that you plan to provide.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Deadline for submission is October 25, 2017, end-of-day Eastern Standard Time.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Please note the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You must be able to perform a version of your work that is less than 15 minutes in length.<\/li>\n<li>Submission of a work does not guarantee acceptance.<\/li>\n<li>We cannot provide remittance for travel or accommodation.
